Ireland - Belturbet Cruising Area

From our base at Belturbet on the shores of the River Erne you can explore the marvellous labyrinth of waters and islands of the Upper Lough Erne and further afield, Lower Lough Erne. These clear blue waters are an angler’s paradise and there are numerous moorings to indulge your pleasure or to simply relax and soak up the peace and tranquillity of these magical surroundings.

Four hours away lies Enniskillen at the entrance to Lower Lough Erne where easy and gentle cruising brings you to the lovely village of Belleek on its western point. Places to visit along the way include the Marble Arch caves, the impressive Florencecourt, Coole Castle – the domain of Crom and the famous Belleek Pottery.

Heading south, you can discover the charms of the recently restored Shannon-Erne waterway along the meandering course of the Woodford. Passing under old bridges and through lovingly restored locks you will soon understand why cruising in Ireland is a pleasure to be savoured. The lakes of Coologe, Derrycassan, Ballymagauran and Garadice are interspersed along the way and nearby villages provide convenient places to stop and take advantage of Ireland’s famous hospitality in one of its many pubs. But, wherever you go, you can be sure of a warm welcome at the end of the day andm if you fancy it, a chance to enjoy a pint of Ireland’s best Guinness. Cheers!
