Well it was a trip down memory lane yesterday – we undertook a huge water crossing by car – actually it takes about 2 minutes to cross the river at Reedham by ferry!
The day was absolutely beautiful, one that we in Norfolk are lucky to have frequently through the winter – crystal clear blue sky, bright sunshine, but really cold – a artist’s paradise – the air is so clear, that if you were on top of a hill you could see for miles in any direction.
After our epic voyage, we journeyed on through Somerleyton and stopped to watch a couple who appeared to be running for their lives but who were actually laying a scent trail for a pack of bloodhounds who were being shepherded by the Master of the Hounds to follow.
It was a wonderful spectacle hearing the hounds baying along the trail, watching them jumping over fences with their ridiculously big ears flying up in the air as they leaped, looking somewhat like black and tan dumbos, followed by all the horses thundering along with their breath huffing out in the cold air and riders pink faced from their exertions.
After they had passed and their sounds faded into nothing, we journeyed on and stopped for a fabulous lunch in the Dukes Head which was heaving with people all enjoying locally sourced food not to mention the beer!
When we eventually waddled out of the pub replete and collapsed back in the car, we sped back to Reedham and completed the round trip by ferry, got home for a welcome cup of tea and a sleep!
